Everything you need to know about booking, riding, and touring with Kumbai.
Punda Vibes is a free, weekly street festival in Willemstad's historic Punda district — live music, folkloric dancing, craft markets, food stalls, and fireworks over the harbor at 8:15 PM. It runs every Thursday, roughly 6 PM to 10 PM, year-round. No ticket, no schedule to plan around — just show up on a Thursday.
The Handelskade waterfront and Wilhelmina Plein both offer great free views. For something more elevated (literally), Cascada Rooftop Bar overlooks the whole show from above — but it's reservation-only and books up fast on Thursdays, so plan ahead if you want that view.
"Dushi" is Papiamentu for sweet, lovely, or good — used for food, people, and good moments alike. The giant CURAÇAO and DUSHI letters, one of the island's most-photographed spots, stand in Wilhelmina Plein in Punda, a short walk from Queen Emma Bridge.
No — Uber and Lyft do not operate in Curaçao, and there's no confirmed timeline for either to launch here. This surprises a lot of first-time visitors who assume they can just open the Uber app on arrival. Kumbai was built to be that missing piece — an app-based ride booking experience made specifically for Curaçao, with upfront pricing shown before you book, so you're not left guessing or negotiating with a driver on the street.
Curaçao's taxis don't use meters — drivers work off a government-set maximum fare card, which means the price you're told can vary by driver, and it's easy to end up paying the top of the range without realizing it. This is one of the most common complaints from visitors, especially compared to the predictability of an app like Uber elsewhere. Kumbai shows your fare upfront in the app before you confirm the ride, so there's no ambiguity and no surprise at the end of the trip.
Yes — this is a government-set rule, not a Kumbai policy: fares carry a 25% surcharge between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM, and on Sundays and public holidays. It applies island-wide to all licensed taxis in Curaçao. Kumbai reflects this automatically in the fare shown before you confirm your ride, so it's never a surprise.
Book directly through the Kumbai app (available on Google Play and the App Store) or through this website. Rides driven by Kumbai's own network are booked instantly; tours marked "Partner Tour" redirect you to that operator's own booking page.
Credit card through the app, or cash in either XCG (Caribbean Guilder) or USD directly with your driver.
Yes — for Kumbai-driven rides and tours, the price is shown upfront before you confirm. For partner-operated tours, pricing and final confirmation happen on the partner's own booking page.
"Kumbai Driver" tours (like city tours and beach hopping) are run directly by Kumbai's own local drivers. "Partner Tour" listings (like ATV adventures or snorkeling excursions) are operated by independent local businesses — Kumbai connects you to them, but they handle the booking, equipment, and guiding for that specific activity.
For Kumbai-driven rides and tours, contact us directly at hi@kumbai.io as early as possible. For partner-operated tours, cancellations are handled according to that partner's own policy — check the confirmation you receive after booking with them.
Yes — Kumbai operates island-wide, from Willemstad to the west-coast beaches and everywhere in between.
