You won't find Kas di Piskado Rondu on a hotel lobby leaflet. There's no signage on the main road, no tourist discount sticker in the window, and no English-only menu with photos. What there is: the freshest seafood on the island, a bright teal-and-pink painted entrance you'll recognise the second you see it, and a kitchen that's been doing traditional Curaçaoan food the right way for years.

📌

Why it's a Must-Do

This is the kind of restaurant that makes your trip. Not just a meal — a real taste of Curaçao, eaten outside with a sea breeze, surrounded by locals on their lunch break. The fish comes out of the water that morning. The tutu is made with traditional ingredients. And you leave understanding what Curaçaoan food actually is — not the watered-down version served at the resort.

What to Order

The menu changes based on what came in that morning. But there are staples you can count on — and a few things you'd be making a mistake to skip.

🦞 Lobster 🐟 Piska Kora (Red Snapper) 🐚 Karko (Conch) 🌽 Funchi Hasa 🫘 Tutu 🍤 Garnalen (Shrimp) 🍋 Awa di Lamunchi

🦞 Lobster

When they have it, order it. Caribbean lobster served whole — grilled, buttery, with avocado, fried plantain, coleslaw, and their house dipping sauce. It looks exactly like the photo above, and it tastes better than it looks. Market price, but far cheaper than any hotel restaurant serving the same thing.

🐟 Piska Kora — Red Snapper

The signature dish. Red snapper fried whole, crisp skin, tender white flesh, served with sliced avocado, lime, plantain, and coleslaw. This is the dish you came here for. Ask for it with funchi hasa on the side if you want the full traditional experience.

Piska kora — the dish that keeps people coming back. Fried whole snapper with avocado, lime, plantain and coleslaw.

🐚 Karko — Conch

Conch is a Curaçaoan staple — chewy, briny, and uniquely Caribbean. Stewed or fried. If you've never had conch before, Rondu is the right place to try it for the first time.

🌽 Funchi Hasa & Tutu

Funchi hasa is fried cornmeal — the Curaçaoan starch, crisp outside, dense and filling inside. Tutu goes further: black-eyed peas, cornmeal, coconut, and pumpkin cooked together into something that's sweet and savoury at the same time. It's one of the most traditional dishes on the island, and the version here is made the old way.

🍋 Awa di Lamunchi

Fresh limeade. Tart, cold, exactly what you need at noon in the Caribbean heat. Order it with a shot of rum if the mood is right.

"The piska kora, garnalen, karko, funchi hasa and tutu — heerlijk. The awa di lamunchi was verfrissend and the view and sea breeze were fantastic."

— Joanne L, TripAdvisor, October 2025

"The shrimp and mahi were some of the best-prepared seafood we've had on the island. The tutu was bound and contained traditional ingredients — black-eyed peas, cornmeal and coconut — but sweeter due to pumpkin."

— Frexinet, TripAdvisor, June 2024
