Curaçao's nightlife scene is genuinely excellent. Pietermaai is one of the Caribbean's best bar strips, Mambo Beach runs late, and Punda comes alive every Thursday for the free street festival. But knowing how to get home before you go out makes the night a lot more relaxed.

Getting to Piscadera Bay

The World Trade Center sits at Piscadera Bay, west of Willemstad. Roughly 10–15 minutes from Willemstad and Pietermaai, 25–30 from Jan Thiel, and about 20 minutes from Hato Airport.

There is an official taxi stand

The festival taxi stand is on Piscaderaweg, next to Residence Piscadera near the Dreams Hotel, marked with signs. Set that as your pickup point rather than the venue itself.

A main road closes at 5PM

Helmin Magno Wiels Boulevard closes between Aqualectra and the Parasasa roundabout from 5PM on each festival day until the last visitor has left. Your route in and out is not the usual one.

🅿 Official car parks and shuttles

Three official car parks. Sambil, Stadium Rif and Velt Veeris. With free shuttle buses to the site on presentation of a festival ticket. Shuttles drop at the roundabout on Helmin Magno Wiels Boulevard.

Do not park on Piscaderaweg

The organisers ask visitors specifically not to park on or around Piscaderaweg. It narrows the road and can block emergency access.

Getting home afterwards, the part worth planning

Three nights, thousands of people, one venue, finishing in the small hours. Shuttle buses stop running once the site clears, and the closed boulevard means everyone funnels out the same way.

This is the largest simultaneous pickup demand on the Curaçao calendar. If you are relying on finding a ride at 3AM alongside everyone else leaving the same stage, you will wait. Booking your return before the last act starts is the difference between walking to a confirmed car and standing on Piscaderaweg.

The 25% night surcharge applies after 11PM, so every festival night qualifies. Route prices are on the taxi prices page, and you can book in your browser if you would rather not install anything.

The free pre-show — and where to eat around it

AFRO 23 opens the festival with a free concert at Kura Hulanda Village in Otrobanda on Tuesday 1 September. That is the historic center, not Piscadera. A completely different part of town, with narrow streets and limited parking.

It is also where BRGR HAUS sits, a few steps from the village, if you want to eat before the show. The nightlife guide covers what else is walkable from there, and rides to Otrobanda are straightforward.

Where to stay for the festival

Piscadera Bay itself is walking distance from the venue. The Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort is right there, and we run airport transfers to it. Willemstad and Pietermaai are a short ride away and put you near the bars afterwards. Jan Thiel is comfortable but adds 25–30 minutes each way at the worst possible hour.

Arriving by air for the festival? See the airport transfer guide — the run from Hato to Piscadera is short, but flights in that week are busy.
