About Jan Thiel
Jan Thiel is a resort and beach-club strip on the south-east coast, popular with Dutch visitors and families. It sits on the opposite side of the island from Hato Airport, so the transfer is a real journey rather than a hop.
Jan Thiel has restaurants, beach clubs and a supermarket within walking distance of most accommodation, so many visitors never need a car once they arrive.
Arriving at Hato Airport
Curaçao International Airport (Hato, code CUR) is on the north coast, while almost all accommodation is on the south side. Which is why even the shortest transfer takes 15 minutes or more.
Pre-book before you land
Your driver monitors the flight and waits if it is delayed, at no extra charge. On a busy arrivals window. Several wide-bodies landing together, the rank moves slowly.
Pay by card
Street taxis on Curaçao are cash only, in guilders or US dollars. With Kumbai you pay in the app, so you can skip the arrivals ATM queue entirely.
There is no Uber
Neither Uber nor Lyft operates in Curaçao. Fares are government-regulated and agreed up front rather than metered. Full explanation here.
Groups and child seats
Say how many passengers, how much luggage and whether you need a child seat when booking, so the right vehicle is assigned.
Booking your transfer
Book in the app for live tracking and saved addresses, or book in your browserwith nothing to download, the price is identical either way. Planning the return leg at the same time is worth doing, particularly for early-morning departures.
