Kumbai means "hi." That's the whole point.

A local, Curaçao-based platform built for the island's taxi drivers — and for anyone who wants to move around Curaçao the way locals do.

Where the name comes from

Why we're called Kumbai

In Papiamentu, the language of Curaçao, how you greet someone depends on the time of day — Bon Dia in the morning, Bon Tardi in the afternoon, Bon Nochi at night. Kumbai is our island's shorter, warmer way of saying all of it at once — a simple "hi" that works any time, to anyone, no matter the hour.

On Curaçao, the first thing you do when you meet someone — a neighbor, a driver, a stranger on the street — is greet them. That's Kumbai. And when it's time to part ways, you say Ayó. We built a company around those two words, because that's exactly what a ride should feel like: a warm hello when you get in, and a genuine goodbye when you arrive.

Goodbye · when you arrive
Our purpose

Built by Curaçao, for Curaçao

Kumbai is a locally based platform created specifically for Curaçao's taxi drivers — the men and women who have moved this island for generations. Our goal is simple: give local drivers the same modern tools that big international apps offer, without handing the island's transportation trade over to a company from somewhere else.

Every ride booked through Kumbai supports a Curaçao-based driver, a Curaçao-based tour operator, or a Curaçao-based business. We're not trying to replace the island's culture of hospitality — we're trying to put it in your pocket, one Kumbai and one Ayó at a time.
